Following on from our update on Monday 4th, this is an urgent update regarding the new Self Employment Income Support Grant.
We now understand that HM Revenue & Customs have started to contact eligible self employed contacts about this grant. Unusually they are contacting in a manner that they do NOT normally do:
- If they have your email address, they will send an email
- If they do not have an email address but have a mobile number, they will send a text
- If they don’t have either of the above, they will write a letter
Our normal advice around care about emails and texts received from HM Revenue & Customs still stands. This is a recipe for scammers and fraudsters to run riot. We advise not to click on the links contained, but instead follow the link below to check your eligibility and deal with the claim:
The link will advise you if you are eligible, and if so, when you can make a claim. We understand that claims will be paid out within 6 business days from the submission of the claim.
We still do not have details of what details are needed for the claim. We very much hope it will be straightforward and literally just agreeing the HM Revenue & Customs held data. Please share your experiences with us. If you need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
At Smarter Accounting, although the Offices are closed, we remain open for business and are fully operational. If you want to discuss any issues, or have queries, please don’t hesitate to call, or email us.
We provide more regular updates via Facebook and, therefore, if you want the latest news then like our Facebook page.
Best wishes and stay safe!
