Accounting Technician/ Assistant Job Description
Smarter Accounting is a fast growing accounting practice, as such we are taking on 2 new team members to support our clients and our existing team. We are seeking Accounting Technician/ Assistants to join our teams in both the Crediton and Teignmouth offices. The candidates should have experience working in an accounting practice, have good overall knowledge of accountancy and be proficient with accounting software such as Xero. The role is critical to support our other team members.
The team is great at supporting and helping clients and is very client focused. The role will be working with the whole team and will also involve regular contact with clients. The right candidates can use this opportunity to develop and progress their career.
Duties:
- Undertake client bookkeeping, including liaising with clients to ensure that the process is managed as efficiently as possible
- Accounts preparation for Sole Traders, Limited Companies and Partnerships
- VAT returns
- Payroll services
- Tax returns
- Providing clients with Xero software training
- Providing support to clients and colleagues
Note: Training will be provided where required and therefore a lack of experience in some of the above areas will not be an issue.
Qualifications/ Skills:
- Proven experience in a similar position
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Xero; familiarity with other financial management tools is advantageous
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills for problem solving
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also demonstrating initiative in individual tasks
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
